Description of Incident
A WOMAN has died after being rescued from the River Derwent.

Police were called to the river in Milford at 8.10am on Saturday following a report of a woman in the water.

She was taken from the river and airlifted to Royal Derby Hospital where she was pronounced dead "sometime later" according to police inspector Bob Mee.

He added: "Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing. Her Majesty's coroner will be informed."

This morning the woman had not yet been formally identified by police.
