Description of Incident
A couple having a weekend away have been found dead in the hotel swimming pool.

Komba Kpakiwa, 31, and Josephine Newahun Foday, 22, died at the luxury Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hatfield Heath.

Essex Police said a provisional post-mortem examination found their deaths, which are not being treated as suspicious, were consistent with drowning.

The brief inquest hearing was told the pair were found floating face down at about 19:30 BST, and efforts by staff and paramedics to save them failed.

Witnesses, including hotel guests, had seen them alive in swimming gear 15 minutes earlier, the inquest at New Bridge House, Chelmsford heard.

Police are treating both deaths as non-suspicious.
