Description of Incident
A Canoeist has been airlifted to hospital after he sustained injury while canoeing at Pont Cyfyng Falls near Capel Curig today (Sunday, October 2).

Police were alerted to the incident at 10.43am by the Ambulance Service whereby a canoeist who was canoeing with a group, was injured after he came out of his canoe while on a section of falls on the River Llugwy which is known as Pont Cyfyng Falls.

Police Officers, members of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team, the Helimed and members of the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene.

The busy A5 road was closed for a time by police officers while the casualty was airlifted from the scene to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor by Squadron 22 of the RAF.

The canoeist is not believed to have sustained life threatening injuries and is being treated at hospital where he remains at this time.
