Near-Miss Rescue Aided by Mobile Phone

One of the great possibilities of Safetymap is the opportunity to let people know about near-miss situations, especially incidents that might not have been reported to authorities ordinarily.

A woman was lucky enough to have a mobile phone on her whist becoming stuck in mud, up to her waist, off the beach in Morecambe. The mobile phone offered two possibilities for aiding the rescue both; from the point of view of the phone calling capabilities of the phone but also the light on the phone. Many phones have illuminated screens and also a ‘flash’ built into them.

In this case we are happy to report the RNLI were able to carry out an effective rescue, resulting in a very satisfactory outcome. More details to be found by following the link below.
