Spreading the Important Safety Message

School friends of a teenager who died after swimming in a county river have been taught about the importance of being safe around water.

Daniel McCullagh, from Woodford, died on July 24 after swimming in the River Nene.

He went to Huxlow Science College in Irthlingborough, and this week the school invited Debbie Turnbull, who set up the River & Sea Sense organisation after her 15-year-old son Chris died after falling into a Welsh river six years ago, to speak to pupils about the dangers of playing in and near water.
